LAFAYETTE — Louisiana-Lafayette strength and conditioning coach Rusty Whitt accepted the same position with Texas Tech, a source confirmed to The Advocate late Saturday night.
Whitt has been a part of the football program since 2010 and has earned acclaim for some of his more non-traditional training techniques, many of which were derived from his time in the armed forces.
Whitt is an Army special forces veteran who deployed twice to Iraq, where he was distinguished for his valor in combat.
Whitt has a lengthy connection with the state of Texas. He received his undergraduate degree from Abilene Christian and his graduate degree from the University of Texas, and he has worked at Sam Houston State and Rice.
