Ragin’ Cajuns hold off Texas State 9-7 to reach Sun Belt softball title game

MOBILE, Ala. — The Louisiana-Lafayette softball team landed the last blow in its back-and-forth Sun Belt Conference tournament semifinal matchup with Texas State, advancing to the championship game with a 9-7 win Friday afternoon.

The lead changed hands five times in the first three and a half innings. Each team always seemed to have an answer for the other’s big rally, at least until Kelsey Vincent’s three-run blast in the fourth inning finally provided the Ragin’ Cajuns (42-7) the punch that the Bobcats (38-19) couldn’t recover from.

“I like the way our hitters approach the game, I like the way they answered, and I like the way we kept answering,” Cajuns coach Mike Lotief said.
