MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Dupree McBrayer and Nate Mason scored 15 points each and Minnesota took advantage of cold first-half shooting by the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns to post an 86-74 victory on Friday in the season opener for both teams at Williams Arena.
Amie Coffey added 13 points with Akeem Springs scoring 11 points and Reggie Lynch 10 as Minnesota (1-0) shot 61.5 percent in the first half while holding Louisiana (0-1) to 6-for-26 aim (23.1 percent) in staking a 48-26 lead at halftime.
"(It) was not very good, we got in foul trouble early and our older guys didn't play well in the first half and Minnesota played very well," head coach Bob Marlin said.
