NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns distance runner Sophie Daigle added another postseason accolade to an already impressive resume when she was named on Wednesday the Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Female Newcomer of the Year in a release by the conference office.
Daigle, a senior from Donaldsonville, La., was selected in a vote of the league's cross country coaches after becoming the second Louisiana Women's Cross Country runner to finish second overall at the SBC Cross Country Championships.
The Southeastern Louisiana transfer posted the best individual finish by a Ragin' Cajuns women's runner in 19 years and helped guide Louisiana to its best finish since 2017.
