LAFAYETTE – Louisiana looked to be in firm control through five innings, but five Appalachian State runs over the final four frames saw the Mountaineers spoil the Ragin' Cajuns' Sun Belt home opener with a 6-5 victory on Friday evening.
Despite the loss, sophomore Hayden Cantrelle continued his hot play with his sixth home run in the last five games. Cantrelle, who finished the night 1-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, extended his hitting streak to 11 games with the homer.
Senior Brennan Breaux recorded two hits on the night and scored a run of his own, while Todd Lott upped his hitting streak to six games with a single and added two RBI.
