LAFAYETTE — Former Southern California guard Malik Marquetti on Monday announced his intention to transfer to the Louisiana-Lafayette men’s basketball team.
“Proud to say I’ve found a new home at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette,” Marquetti tweeted Monday afternoon.
Marquetti will sit out the 2016-17 season under NCAA transfer rules, then will have two years of eligibility remaining.
A four-star recruit coming out of Millikan High School in Long Beach, California, Marquetti was USC’s team captain last year, when he averaged 2.0 points and 7.3 minutes in 27 contests. He started 15 games as a freshman, averaging 3.
