NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football team was picked to finish in a fifth-place tie as the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Football Coaches' Poll was released by the league office on Thursday.
Louisiana, which will open the season Sept. 3 at Cajun Field against Boise State, received 70 points in a poll by the league's 11 head coaches and finished tied with Troy. Appalachian State was picked to finish first in the preseason poll, recording five first-place votes and 114 points. Defending champion Arkansas State received five first-place votes and 110 points with Georgia Southern (98 points) receiving the final first-place vote.
