Cajuns women hope defense rises again at Texas-Arlington

LAFAYETTE — After the Ragin’ Cajuns take an early ride to the arena Thursday, a homecoming will include a bunch of kids and a two-sided challenge.

When the University of Louisiana at Lafayette women’s basketball team (16-7, 9-5) takes on UT Arlington (12-11, 7-6) in an 11:30 a.m. Sun Belt game at the College Park Center, youth from four school districts will be waiting to welcome the Cajuns to the start of their four-game road trip.

That is part of the Maverick Spirit Kids Day atmosphere Cajuns’ guard Taylor Washington will encounter. The junior from Arlington, Texas, scored a career-high 19 points and made 5-of-6 from 3-point range when the teams squared off at the Cajundome on Jan.
