Cajuns softball team runs Sun Belt series winning streak to 25 by sweeping Texas State

LAFAYETTE — When Kelsey Vincent stepped up in the sixth inning with the Louisiana-Lafayette softball team trailing by two runs to Texas State, she said she definitely wasn’t thinking home run.

“When I think home run, that usually doesn’t work out for me,” Vincent said Saturday. “I just wanted to be smart and hit one up the middle. I think it was a ball that I hit, and I went for it.”

Vincent crushed a two-run homer to tie the score at 2. Aleah Craighton then hit a go-ahead solo home run, and Sara Corbello had her own two-run shot to give the Cajuns a 5-2 win and their 25th consecutive Sun Belt Conference series win in the second game of the day’s doubleheader at Lamson Park.
