LAFAYETTE – Louisiana-Lafayette running back Elijah McGuire is returning for his senior season.
McGuire tweeted out the message “Cheers to my senior season!!” Monday morning. When asked if that meant he was returning for his final year, McGuire said, “That’s correct.”
This is big news for a Cajuns team who is now getting its best player back for a crucial year.
McGuire entered his name to the NFL College Advisory Committee this offseason to test the NFL draft waters, but opted to return to the Cajuns for his final season.
Though he carried the ball a career-high 209 times last season, McGuire is coming off the least productive year of his career – and he still ran for 1,047 yards and accounted for 16 touchdowns.
