JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Dominique Williams recorded a mark of 183 feet, 8 inches in the men's hammer throw while Frankie Griffin finished in a tie for 28th place in the women's high jump to pace the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team during the opening day on Thursday at the 2019 NCAA East Preliminary at Hodges Stadium.
Williams finished in 38th place for Louisiana, which had five of its eight entrants compete during the opening day of the three-day event.
