Cajuns game against ULM suspended in fifth, set to resume at 4 p.m. Friday

LAFAYETTE — The series opener between Louisiana-Lafayette and UL-Monroe was suspended with two outs in the top of the fifth inning Thursday night after a bolt of lightning shot across the sky beyond center field.

The game will resume at 4 p.m. Friday with the Warhawks leading 1-0. Depending on how it plays out, this might wind up benefitting the Cajuns in the long run.

Sophomore starter Gunner Leger, who entered the game with a sterling 2.22 ERA, was his usual self. In 4.2 innings, he struck out five and allowed three hits. The one run he allowed was unearned, though he is responsible for the runners that will be standing on first and second base when play resumes Friday.
