LAFAYETTE — Louisiana-Lafayette, buoyed by the anticipated return of slugger Lexie Elkins, is the overwhelming favorite heading into this week’s Sun Belt Conference tournament.
The Cajuns dropped just two SBC contests all season, and finished with a sterling 40-7 regular-season record.
They have no peer offensively, not only leading the conference in virtually every major offensive category, but leading by a large margin. They lead the conference in batting average by 37 points, slugging percentage by 147 points, on base percentage by 56 points, and they’ve hit 33 more home runs than anyone else in the SBC.
