Cajuns bite back, bounce Boston University 9-5 to win Lafayette regional opener

LAFAYETTE — After the Louisiana-Lafayette softball team’s 9-5 win over Boston University in its first game of the NCAA tournament’s Lafayette regional Friday night, Ragin’ Cajuns coach Michael Lotief called the Terriers scrappy.

“My kids were just scrappier,” he said.

The Terriers were scrappy to the tune of 13 hits — the most the Cajuns have given up this season. The Terriers got three hits in the first inning off Macey Smith and scored a run to take the lead.

The Cajuns roared back and scored three in the bottom half, including a two-run homer from Kelsey Vincent.
