SAN MARCOS, Texas — The Louisiana-Lafayette baseball team took care of business in the closing weeks of the season, winning both the Sun Belt’s regular-season and tournament championships.
Its reward: It will be an NCAA tournament regional host.
Lafayette was named one of 16 regional host sites Sunday night. The 64-team field will be unveiled at 11 a.m. Monday; the team will watch the selection show in a private gathering to find out who will be coming to town.
The Ragin’ Cajuns closed the season on a 10-game win streak that culminated with an SBC tournament championship Sunday afternoon with a 5-0 win over Georgia Southern in San Marcos.
