STATESBORO, Ga. — Brian Mills’ grand slam in the eighth inning lifted the 26th-ranked Louisiana-Lafayette baseball team to a 13-9 win over Georgia Southern to clinch the series on Sunday at J.I. Clements Stadium.
Mills had two home runs in the contest and became the first Ragin’ Cajuns hitter to drive in six runs in a game since Jace Conrad on June 1, 2014, against Jackson State.
With the victory, the Cajuns improved to 21-11 and 10-5 in Sun Belt play, while the Eagles fall to 18-14 and 7-8.
“You don’t want to always get in firefights, but it’s nice when your hitters can back up your pitchers and defense when they aren’t at their best,” Cajuns coach Tony Robichaux said.
