LAFAYETTE — When Louisiana-Lafayette’s last good chance to tie the game ended in an Arizona glove, you could hear the air coming out of the sails at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field in a protracted sigh.
The Cajuns (43-21) had two tries to get one win Monday, but simply could not find the big hit when it mattered, a problem that was compounded by the fact they were digging out of early holes courtesy of the Arizona (42-21) offense. Because of that, the Cajuns 2016 season ended in a 3-1 loss, and Arizona will continue its season later this week against Mississippi State in the super regional.
