He has a league-high 22 interceptions since he entered the NFL in 2015, but with a season opener against the Carolina Panthers around the corner, Los Angeles Rams cornerback Marcus Peters does not have a long-term contract in hand.

The Rams upgraded at backup quarterback this offseason, so one of last year’s had to go. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Rams have released quarterback Brandon Allen.

The Rams released 18 players Friday, leaving 19 deeper cuts to be made before Saturday’s deadline to reduce their roster to 53.
