Despite a tremendous effort by the NFL, the league was not successful in banning the “tush push” play this week. The proposed rule changes that would have effectively ended the tush push fell a couple of owners short of passing, so it is possible that the Philadelphia Eagles will continue to be a dominant force on short yardage in 2025.
Perhaps the question left is: Do the owners who decided not to ban the play feel optimistic that they’re catching up to it? Or were they afraid that banning a play is a slippery slope?
