In their first attempt to defeat the San Francisco 49ers this season, the Los Angeles Rams compiled 17 first downs and 311 total yards of offense. Those are their second-lowest such totals this season, somewhat eclipsing their performance against the New York Giants in Week 4. But the Rams beat the Giants and couldn’t do the same against the 49ers because they allowed Jimmy Garoppolo to lead three touchdown drives of 75 or more yards in the first half.
Los Angeles turned on the defense significantly in the second half (99 total yards, three points, four punts) but by then it was much too late.
