Indigenous to the St. Louis region, kettles of BattleHawk fans once flocked a few blocks from the banks of the Mississippi. These were rare birds, draped in their blue-and-grey crests, lapping Bud Lights and releasing their great call, the grating “Ka-Kaw.”
Will the BattleHawk fan become extinct? Or has it just temporarily gone to roost?
