Check the tape, not the stopwatch, with MU's Brothers

INDIANAPOLIS Kentrell Brothers isn’t a sprinter. He’s never going to win an Olympic medal for running or jumping, and it showed Sunday at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Brothers, a linebacker from Missouri, didn’t have a workout for the ages. He ran 4.89 seconds in the 40-yard dash, not the best of times for a 6-foot, 245-pounder. And his vertical leap (28 ½ inches) and broad jump (9 feet 2 inches) were near the bottom of the pack for the 38 linebackers at the event.

After his workout Sunday, Brothers tweeted that his workout was crummy — he used a different word — and that he’d keep working to get better.
