Carriage dispute could knock World Cup, football games off DirecTV Stream in St. Louis

The latest in what seems like a never-ending string of financial disputes between a television network and a programming provider threatens to take some FOX outlets, including ones that carry World Cup and NFL games, off DirecTV, DirecTV Stream and U-verse beginning Friday.

In St. Louis, only DirecTV Stream customers would be affected according to Kurt Krueger, general manager of local FOX affiliate KTVI (Channel 2). That is 46,700 such subscribers, he said.

Channel 2 is owned by Nexstar Media Group. FOX-owned stations in other markets would lose Fox programming on DirecTV and U-verse as well as DirecTV Stream.
