Carriage dispute could knock Fox's World Cup and football games off DirecTV, U-verse

The deal for those outlets to carry Fox's broadcast network (KTVI, Channel 2 locally), FS1, FS2, the Big Ten Network is due to expire in the wee hours Friday. Without reaching a settlement or at least extension of talk, customers would stand to be blacked out of events including the U.S.-Netherlands World Cup game on Saturday morning, the Pac-12 college football championship contest (Southern California-Utah) on Friday night, the Big Ten Conference college football title game (Purdue-Michigan) on Saturday night and an NFL matchup on Sunday afternoon (Tennessee-Philadelphia is to be shown in St. Louis).

Such disputes often are settled quickly or an agreement is reached to keep the programming on while talks continue.
