What Wesley Mathews adds to the Lakers on both ends of the floor

The Lakers signed former Milwaukee Bucks wing Wesley Matthews to the $2.6 million bi-annual exception in the first hours of free agency, and in doing so, they added a key player who will help make up for the trade of Danny Green and shore up their roster and wing rotation.

Matthews brings a highly valued two-way skillset, mentality and drive to the defending champions’ roster. In the following video, I detailed those skills.

So there it is — Matthews adds critical spacing to the Lakers offense, along with secondary attacking and off-ball movement, as well as relentless, high IQ perimeter defending, all combined with a relentless, grinding defensive mentality.
