Lakers low on hope for Anthony Davis trade before Thursday deadline

New Orleans general manager Dell Demps has had no communication Wednesday with Lakers president Magic Johnson on L.A.'s most recent trade offer for All-Star Anthony Davis, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Lakers are running low on hope that the Pelicans will engage them before Thursday's 3 p.m. trade deadline, the sources said.

Johnson wanted the Pelicans to start offering counter-proposals to offers on Davis, threatening to end talks unless the Pelicans showed a willingness to engage in a back-and-forth on reaching a deal.

The Lakers had added two more young players -- Josh Hart and Ivica Zubac -- to a trade package that already included Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball and two first-round picks, sources said.
