Lakers have all but eliminated themselves from the trade market

The Los Angeles Lakers are running into a harsh reality this season. They want a two-way wing who can change the game, but the truth is, they simply do not have the assets to make it happen.

Draft picks are low, first-round selections are scarce, and unless LeBron James is involved, there is little they can do. Making a deal centred on LeBron James would be hard to pull off given his current contract, which adds another layer of complexity.

Wings who would fit the Lakers roster are rare and expensive

Marc Stein made the situation clear in The Stein Line.
