The Catalyst is back/headed out of town. Los Angeles Lakers restricted free agent Marcelo Huertas has agreed to return to Los Angeles on two-year deal, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical.
Huertas, the oldest rookie in the NBA last season at age 32, averaged 4.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and a team-leading 3.4 assists in his first year in Los Angeles. The team’s offense also functioned FAR better with Huertas on the court, scoring 101.6 points per 100 possessions with Huertas as opposed to 97.8 with him on the bench.
Admittedly much of that work was done against opposing team’s backups/without Kobe Bryant chucking away, and Huertas’ defensive issues are real.
