The Lakers finalized an agreement to sign Chinese big man Yi Jianlian on Monday, the team announced.
Jianlian, 28, last played in the NBA in 2012 with the Dallas Mavericks, his fourth team in five seasons after being drafted No. 6 overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2007.
The 6-foot-11 starred for China in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, averaging 20.4 points and shooting 46.7 percent on 3-pointers. His team, however, did not advance beyond group play.
Those numbers are dramatically more impressive than his NBA statistics. His best year came in 2009-10, when he averaged 12 points and 7.
