Hall-of-Famer Clyde Lovellette, a key member of the former Minneapolis Lakers, passed away at age of 86.
Lovellete helped the Minneapolis in numerous ways. He won an NBA championship in 1954. He landed two of his four NBA All-Star appearances with the team. And he averaged 17.2 points and 11.2 rebounds through four years with the franchise (1953-57).
Lovellete also became the first player in basketball history to play on an NCAA, Olympic, and NBA championship team.
“Clyde was a link to our early years in Minnesota, and a key member of the 1954 championship team,” Lakers president Jeanie Buss said in a statement.
