Final: Lakers by slow start in 109-90 loss to block-happy Magic

ORLANDO – With the losses stacking up, Lakers coach Luke Walton sarcastically offered an unconventional solution to try to reverse their fortunes.

After seeing his players squander double-digit leads in consecutive games, Walton wondered whether his players should aim for poor starts so they feel compelled to play harder the rest of the game.

Nearly 24 hours later, the Lakers found themselves in a big early hole and proved that approach didn’t work either in a 109-90 loss to the Orlando Magic. Their 12th loss in 13 games left them limping home with a 1-6 record on a season-long trip that included overlapping injuries, evolving lineups and inconsistent performances.
