The Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night in their first scrimmage game inside the NBA bubble in Orlando. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers lost to Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis and the Dallas Mavs, 108-104. Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis both played in limited minutes for the Dallas Mavericks alongside Seth Curry, Dorian Finney-Smith and Tim Hardaway Jr. in the starting lineup.

The Los Angeles Lakers started LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Danny Green and JaVale McGee. The Lakers will play two more scrimmage games inside the Orlando bubble before moving onto seeding games leading up to the NBA playoffs. The other two scrimmage games will be played against Aaron Gordon, Mo Bamba and the Orlando magic on Saturday morning, and then they will take on the Washington Wizards on Monday afternoon.
JR Smith and Dion Waiters made their Lakers’ debut in the scrimmage game. Dion Waiters looked like a solid addition as he was creating his own shot well and staying aggressive on the offensive side of the ball. JR Smith made one nice play that was a behind-the-back pass in transition, but he wasn’t shooting the ball all that well in his limited time on the floor.
