The Los Angeles Lakers opened up the regular season on Tuesday night against their in-town rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers. Unfortunately for the Lakers, they lost their opener, 112-102. LeBron James and Anthony Davis both put up big numbers in the first game, but it just was not enough to overcome the fire power that Kawhi Leonard brought to the table as he scored 30 points. In today’s episode of the Laker Report, Jimmy Crowther breaks down three winners and three losers from the first game of the season for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The three big winners for the Lakers from their opening game against the LA Clippers are LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Danny Green. LeBron James looked like a man on a mission as he was running point guard for the Lakers the entire game and handling the ball well. Anthony Davis, in his first official game as a member of the Lakers, put up a double-double and made a huge impact on the defensive end as well. Perhaps the biggest winner of all, however, was Danny Green. Green scored 28 points, the most in an opening game for the Lakers EVER, thanks to a barrage of 3-pointers.

The Lakers did lose the game to the LA Clippers, so Jimmy Crowther also breaks down three big losers. The first of the three is Anthony Davis’ jumpshot. AD has been working on expanding his game, but it did not shine in the first game of the season. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope did not play well at all in his first game; although he played 27 total minutes, he did not score. Finally, Dwight Howard did not look impressive in his first game back as a Laker. He was bullied around on the interior and did not make much of an impact on the defensive side of the ball.
