It's not quite breaking news that the Golden State Warriors are looking to possibly trade Monta Ellis, with a swap for Philadelphia's Andre Iguodala getting most of the attention. But sources close to the Warriors say that they have been in discussions with the Magic, Bulls, Hawks, & Lakers as well.
It's hard to imagine what the Lakers could offer the Warriors in a deal. They don't really have any expiring contracts, and although they do have 4 draft picks in the upcoming NBA draft, they are all in the 2nd round. Other than that, I would be hard pressed to think that the Lakers would give up a big man to get Ellis, and would be amazed if the Warriors took someone like Ron Artest or Luke Walton along in the deal.
In any case, the Lakers are part of the discussion, and Monta Ellis would be a perfect fit for what the Lakers need moving forward. He's a pure scorer at the shooting guard position, and would benefit tremendously by playing with Kobe for a few years.
Post a comment and let us know what you think, and maybe even the trades that you think the Lakers could offer for Ellis.
