Lakers Rumors: Pau Gasol Likely Out For The Season, Lakers Career Could Be Over

Four-time All Star Pau Gasol may have already played his last game for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Gasol, who won two NBA titles with the team, missed Wednesday's game against Sacramento and won't play Friday against Dallas because of a severe case of vertigo. According to the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers are leaning towards sitting Gasol for the rest of the regular season.

At 33, Gasol's future is cloudy. He becomes a free agent this summer, and despite a close relationship with Kobe Bryant, the Lakers don't seem to be interested in keeping him around. Gasol was quietly shopped to several teams earlier this season - with the Memphis Grizzlies reportedly the top suitor - but no teams were willing to meet LA's asking price (reportedly multiple prospects, draft picks, or some combination of the two).

Gasol made $19.3 million this season. In 60 games, Gasol averaged 17.4 points and 9.7 minutes as LA's anchor on offense, but made only 48% of his shots. Without Kobe Bryant or other proven offensive threats, Gasol's usage rate skyrocketed - he posted a USG% of 26.4, meaning he was involved in the most offensive possessions since his third year with the Memphis Grizzlies, and the second-most in his career.
