Lakers News - Steve Nash "fine having nothing to do" with coaching search

In today's Lakers news update, point guard Steve Nash is much more focused on his recovery from injury than the Los Angeles Lakers' search for a new head coach.

Per Dave McMenamin of ESPNLosAngeles.com, "Steve Nash says he will accept whomever the Los Angeles Lakers hire to be their next coach and does not intend to influence the search process."

Rather, Nash is doing everything he can to come back healthy and as productive as ever in his 19th (and perhaps final season) in 2014-15.

"No kind of front-runner," Nash said to ESPNLosAngeles.com on Thursday.  "To be honest, I've tried to get away and clear my mind, and hopefully clearing my mind will help my body. So I'm kind of just sitting back and not getting involved in the process -- even emotionally -- and just waiting to see what they decide."

With the Los Angeles Lakers drawing out their hiring process to encompass as many possible candidates as they can, Nash won't be walking into general manager Mitch Kupchak's office to discuss strategy:

"I'm completely happy to have a conversation," Nash stated.

"But I'm also fine having nothing to do with it."
