Off-Day Watch 1/25: Minor trade sends Dominik Kubalik’s rights to the Blackhawks

It’s not a trade that’s going to move the needle on the Kings season, but yesterday, Rob Blake sent the rights to Dominik Kubalik to the Chicago Blackhawks, in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.

Kubalik was drafted by the Kings in the seventh round in 2013 but was not signed and left to return to Europe after two years in the OHL. He’s developed more of a scoring touch in Europe and currently leads the Swiss National League in points. While the Kings still regarded him as a prospect and retained his rights, reports indicate that he never showed any intent to sign with the Kings and come to North America.
