Kings ditched Forum Blue and Gold for silver and black—and fans never got over it

For close to 40 years now, the Los Angeles Kings have been known for the silver and black, but that wasn't always the case. In fact, for the first 30 years the franchise was in the NHL, they had a very different color scheme as they would go with the Forum Blue and Gold.

However, the summer of 1988 was a transformative time for the Kings as they would make one of the biggest trades in NHL history when they would get a deal done with the Edmonton Oilers that included the greatest hockey player in the league, Wayne Gretzky.
