The LA Galaxy returned to action after four months off, but a late goal from Chicharito wasn’t enough as they lost 2-1 to the Portland Timbers in their opening game of the MLS is Back Tournament Monday in Orlando.
The game was tight and even for an hour, but two goals in less than 10 minutes separated the teams, before the Timbers went down a man and the Galaxy tried to claw back for a point, to no avail.
The only real surprise in the lineup was 17-year-old Homegrown signing Cameron Dunbar, making his MLS debut in the match.
