CARSON, Calif. – U.S. National Team acting head coach Dave Sarachan named a youthful 21-man roster for the United States’ friendly against Portugal on Nov. 14 in Leiria.
For the USMNT’s final game of 2017, Sarachan has brought in plenty of youth with over half of the squad under the age of 24. Seven members of the squad are U.S. U-20 alumni from the program’s two recent World Cup cycles.
“The one word that I would use in reference to all of this is opportunity,” Sarachan said in a statement released by U.S. Soccer. “It’s an opportunity for many players who haven’t been in the picture that we feel have a bright future with the National Team to get to measure themselves in a game against a quality opponent.
