France are the 2018 FIFA World Cup Champions after defeating Croatia 4-2.
The title is second World Cup title in France’s history and their first since the 1998 title.
Croatia started the match on the front foot, quickly dominating and caging France in their own half. Then, in the 18th minute, France was able to break away with the counterattack until Marcelo Brozovic tackled Antoine Griezmann to the ground, awarding Les Bleus a free kick from a dangerous position. Griezmann stepped up and fired the shot into the box, where Mario Mandzukic miscalculated the play, heading the ball into the post to give France the lead and score the first own goal at a World Cup final.
