Yasiel Puig suspended 1 game, fined for obscene gesture

CLEVELAND — Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig has been suspended for one game by Major League Baseball and fined an undisclosed amount for the obscene gesture he directed at fans during Tuesday night’s game at Progressive Field.

Puig is appealing the suspension and is in the Dodgers’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s game against the Cleveland Indians.

Puig’s actions came during the second inning. He said fans in the dugout suites were riding him while he was on deck. When they continued following his two-run home run, he made the obscene gesture in their direction as he trotted back to the Dodgers’ dugout.
