On Monday, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced that RHP Tony Gonsolin will have Tommy John surgery on Friday, likely ending his 2024 season before it even begins.
This past offseason the Dodgers signed Gonsolin to a two-year deal, and after the 2024 season, he is eligible for arbitration. That contract is starting to look like a real mistake.
At no point after last August when he went on the IL with forearm inflammation has Gonsolin looked like himself. Yes, in some starts during this season he was effective. However, for the most part, he’s struggled.
