I want to make one thing perfectly clear – I like Don Mattingly. Donnie Ballgame is a great guy, a pleasant guy and a genuine nice guy. He’s also a fellow Hoosier and that gives me reason to like him.. but I don’t.
Many of you bash him for his lineup changes, match-ups and pitching options. However, you rarely hear that from me, because it’s just second-guessing and second-guessers are seldom wrong – unless they are really bad second-guessers. For example, some rag on Mattingly when he starts a player over another player who is hot, but Joe Maddon does the same thing and he always has.
