LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers activated outfielder Scott Van Slyke from the disabled list Wednesday and, in a corresponding move, put right-hander Chris Hatcher on the disabled list with a strained left oblique.
Van Slyke had been on the DL since May 31 with a strained muscle in his back.
"He's been a guy that has hit left-handed pitching for us, and right-handed pitching at times," manager Don Mattingly said. "It's good to have him back. It gives us some versatility with a guy that can play all three outfield spots and first base."
Van Slyke spent three games rehabbing for Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga.
