Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith played a key role in the team’s statement 6-0 victory over the San Diego Padres Saturday night.
Smith recorded three of the Dodgers’ first four outs of the game as he caught runners stealing second thrice.
Padres stars Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts all tried to get in scoring position, but failed to do so with Smith throwing all three out at second.
“Looking back, maybe we shouldn’t have gone,” Bogaerts said to The Athletic. “I got my jump. I thought I was safe by a mile.
