Olivera to make pro debut with Double-A Tulsa (The Associated Press)

DENVER (AP) -- Cuban infielder Hector Olivera will begin his professional career Thursday with Double-A Tulsa, a minor league affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Olivera reached an agreement with the Dodgers in late March. He signed a $62.5 million, six-year contract on May 19 and was added to the 40-man roster.

The 30-year-old Olivera has been working out in Arizona for the last two weeks. Before that, he spent time at the Dodgers' academy in the Dominican Republic.

Los Angeles said Olivera had a .323 career average in Cuba with 96 homers and 433 RBIs with Santiago from 2003-14, playing mostly first base and second, which is his preferred position.
