MLB Notes: Yankees Sign Mets Pitcher, Astros Add Veteran Reliever, $212 Million All-Star Out For Year

The New York Yankees didn’t have to look too far to sign their newest pitcher as they inked a deal with right-hander Paul Blackburn who most recently played with the New York Mets. The Yankees also optioned right-hander Allan Winas to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Additionally, the Houston Astros signed veteran reliever Craig Kimbrel. The 37-year-old made just one big league appearances this season, a scoreless inning with the Atlanta Braves.

Finally, speaking of the Braves, All-Star third baseman Austin Riley has unfortunately undergone core injury surgery, ending his season. He is expected to be ready for spring training 2026.
