MLB Notes: Yankees Shockingly Release Pitcher, $260 Million All-Star to IL, Emmanuel Clase Locker Removed

The New York Yankees shockingly released right-handed pitcher Marcus Stroman on Friday. The two-time All-Star has a 6.23 ERA this year across 39 innings pitched, and the move allows rookie right-handers Cam Schlittler and Will Warren to get more work in, while also making room for their new additions from Thursday’s trade deadline.

In other news, the St. Louis Cardinals placed All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado on the injured list with a right shoulder strain. Arenado was in tons of trade rumors but ended up staying put in St. Louis.

Finally, Emmanuel Clase’s locker has been removed from the Cleveland Guardians clubhouse.
