MLB Notes: Pete Alonso Opting Out After Mets Choke, Full Wild Card Schedule Revealed, Trea Turner Returns for Phillies

The final day of the MLB regular season had no shortage of drama, as expected. After the New York Mets started 45-23 this season, an 83-79 skid culminating in a loss on Sunday not only left them out of the playoff race, but led superstar Pete Alonso to opt out of his contract.

In other news, the Wild Card round of the postseason begins on Tuesday. The New York Yankees are hosting the rival Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Guardians (who were 15.5 games back in July) are hosting the Detroit Tigers on the American League side of things.
